A Naive Friend

It was not an ordinary day
As we enjoyed a team lunch
The first one in years
And I had some hunch!

I had a great time
With my office mates
Some were new
With diverse dialects

Among them was
A short person
With a jolly nature
And an act of assertion!

In a very short time
We became acquainted
She started sharing things
That left her fainted

Soon I realised
She was naive
But not always
As sometimes she’d deceive

Though she was
Very understanding
It went in vain
With her overthinking

To add to it
She was very impatient
Which often made her
Complacent

Surrounded by
Trust-breaks
Which are as poisonous as
Venomous snakes

Dealing with them
With utmost esteems
Living in a place
Known as the city of dreams!

She often goes back
To her home
Just to fall ill
And lose her chrome

She meets people while travelling
Thanks to her fate
Who she thinks
Could be her soulmate!

One may find her
A bit eccentric
And also a little
Egocentric

But she is good
At heart
And is infused with
An art

She can make
The best out of waste
And that too
With haste

We know each other
It has been a year now
And without any hassle
Our friendship is like a vow

With the year
Coming to an end
I wish the best
For my friend

Our friendship will
Nurture with every passing year
A bond we will respect
And be there for each other, dear
