Lockdown Diary 2

“It’s almost over now. I don’t think we would recover from this”, said an owner of 19 years old clothing brand. From a small, single 250 sq. ft shop to this bungalow-size showroom, he has lived every ounce of the struggle of this transformation. Everything was fine, revenue was sky-high until COVID arrived. Just 4 months ago he invested a handful amount to take his business online. But with this sudden lockdown, the sales suffered a tremendous onslaught. It has been 3 months in a row now that a single truck has left with their product & 1 month from its last sale that too with the lowest profit margin of 0.5%. He has to take care of his 19 employees who have done their job successfully to bring this brand to what it is today. Unfortunately, with such crises, it was difficult to keep this all up. He wanted his employees as bad as he wanted to bring his business back on track. With this idea in mind, he did something any entrepreneur would do. Identify the need & produce something to serve the need.
The brand which earned its name by making sarees, dresses, shirts and trousers started making masks. And that’s it. With affordable rates & supreme quality, the brand managed to survive!
